Franz Schottky (born in 1971, Munich) is one of the young generation’s most interesting German conductors. At the age of 19 he met the legendary Sergiu Celibidache (1979-96 principal conductor of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra). He became aware of Schottky’s talent and accepted him as one of his last and closest students. Until his death in 1996 Sergiu Celibidache taught Schottky in person and passed the tradition of his own teacher, Wilhelm Furtwängler, on to him. For six years Schottky has followed Sergiu Celibidache all over Europe.
In 2000 Schottky founded the international chamber orchestra Kammerphilharmonie dacapo München. This orchestra has been able to secure itself a considerable core audience and a firm place within the buzzing cultural life of the Bavarian capital, playing every season in up to ten different programs with up to 40 musicians.
Up until now Schottky has, among others, conducted orchestras like the Capella Cracoviensis (Poland), the Municipal Symphony Orchestra of Lipetsk, the Russian Chamber Orchestra (both in Russia), the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Vidin (Bulgaria), the New Prague Collegium, the Northern Czech Philharmonic Orchestra of Teplice (both Czech Republic), the Orchestra Sinfonica Città di Grosseto, Arena di Verona Orchestra and the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana (Italy), the Filarmonica de Stat Banatul Timisoara (Romania), the National State Chamber Orchestra Chisinau (Moldawia), the Beethovenorchester Bonn (Germany), the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Kharkov Philharmonic Orchestra (Ukraine) and the Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de México OSEM (Mexiko). Franz Schottky speaks German, Italian, English, Spanish and French.
