Nata a Sofia in Bulgaria, nipote del compositore Bentzion Eliezer, Lilia Donkova ha intrapreso gli studi musicali all’età di sei anni.
La Donkova ha ricevuto molti premi e riconoscimenti tra i quali vogliamo ricordare: il primo premio per “Giovani Talenti” del Festival di Sofia (assegnatole all’età di otto anni), il Premio “Barbara Kesterton”, il Premio “Belmoore Woodgate”, il “Picker Trust Award”, Premio “John Mundy”.
Si è esibita regolarmente come solista, in occasione di eventi quali il Festival Internazionale di Musica di Estoril in Portogallo, Festival Iberico in Spagna, e il Coloseum di Lisbona.
Nel 2004, ha suonato con la London Soloists Chamber Orchestra alla Queen Elizabeth Hall, presso la Purcell Room di Londra nell’ambito del Genius of the Violin Festival.
Si è esibita alla sia alla Weill Hall che alla Carnagie Hall di New York.

During her studies Lilia won several competitions. Already at the age of only 8, she was awarded 1st prize at the ‚Talented Young Musicians‚ Festival in Sofia, Bulgaria.
She was a prize-winner of Kotzian Violin Competition (1990) in Prague and Estoril Competition‚ Portugal (1996)
Lilia performes regularly as a soloist and chamber musician, having played at the International Music Festival of Estoril in Portugal, Festival Iberico in Spain, Genius of the Violin Festival in London, Cremona Exhibition of Stradivarius Violins in Italy, where she played a Stardivarius violin from the Royal Academy‚ Collection, Nancymphonies Festival – France, Classic Stars in Germany, Sofia Music Weeks Festival – Bulgaria, Kotor Art Festival – Montenegro and others.Lilia has also performed at prestigious venues such as the Isaac Stern and the Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall – New York, Purcell Room at the Queen Elizabeth Hall – London, Verdi Hall – Milano, Teatro Filarmonico ‚ Verona, Smetana Hall‚ Prague and others.
