Dopo il suo strepitoso debutto americano nel ruolo di Aglaonice nell’Orphée di Philip Glass alla Virginia Opera House nel 2011, la giovane mezzosoprano polacca Marta Wryk è arrivata all’attenzione del pubblico europeo e della stampa tornando in Europa e interpretando il ruolo di Smeton in Anna Bolena all’Opera Köln.
I critici l’hanno elogiata per avere “la voce più promettente con note alte spettacolari” (ResMusica) e per la sua “straordinaria Italianitá” (Der nueu Merker). Mentre era ancora membro dell’Oper Köln Opera Studio, ha recitato in diversi ruoli principali, tra cui Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, Oberto in Alcina e Gianetta in L’elisir d’Amore. I momenti salienti dei suoi impegni 2019/2020 includono Cherubino all’Oper Bonn, Krystna in una nuova produzione di Die Passagierin alla Saarbrücken Opera, Israelit Man in Judas Macabaeus al Concertgebouw Amsterdam, la Premiere della nuova composizione di PRASQUALs “Conversations with Death” e la sala da concerto della National Radio Symphony Orchestra di Kattowitz e la messa di Bruckners in fa minore presso l’Università di Bonn.
Ancora studentessa alla Manhattan School of Music, Marta Wryk ha vinto il primo premio al Concorso vocale internazionale a Gorizia, in Italia, il 3 ° premio al Concorso Marcella Sembrich di New York e un premio di incoraggiamento dal Concorso Career Bridges a New York.

After her successful American debut as Aglaonice in Philip Glass’ Orphée at the Virginia Opera in 2011, young Polish mezzo-soprano Marta Wryk came to the attention of European audiences and the press when she stepped in the role of Smeton in Anna Bolena at Oper Köln.
Critics praised her for having “the most promising voice with spectacular high notes” (ResMusica) and for her “remarkable Italianitá” (Der nueu Merker). While still a member of the Oper Köln Opera Studio, she was featured in several leading roles, including Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, Oberto in Alcina and Gianetta in L’elisir d’Amore.
She then joined the ensemble of Oper Köln and added to her reportoire the roles of Mercédès in Carmen, Second Lady in The Magic Flute and Laura in Tschaikovsky’s Jolantha. For her guest appearance in the demanding role of Ascanio in Berlioz’s Benvenuto Cellini at Oper Bonn in November 2015, she received great critical acclaim, being called “the astonishment of the evening” (Der Neue Merker) and “a singer at a start of a remarkable career” (Kölner Stadtanzeiger).

An enthusiast of oratorio, chamber music and Lied Marta Wryk made her debut at Cologne Philharmonic Hall in 2014 performing songs of Shostakovich and Villa Lobos. She then appeared in a concert at Krzysztof Penderecki International Music Centre in Lusławice. She was also invited by two contemporary music ensembles: Notabu-Ensemble and Spectra Ensemble to perform Luciano Berio’s Recital for Cathy at prestigious Düsseldorf Tonhalle and Ghent Muziekcentrum in Belgium. In 2019 has appeared at the Philharmonie Luxembour, performing the part of Silvia in the staged version of Stravinski’s Pulcinella and was futured in the concert gala in Warsaw’s Polski Theater during the 29th Mozart’s Festival.
In summer of 2015, she was selected to sing in the Stipendiantenkonzert at Großen Haus der Stadthalle Bayreuth during the Bayreuth Festival. She also appeared in Kammermusik für Köln concert series at Santa Klara Keller in Köln. While residing in the USA she she performed at Symphony Space in New York with pianist Anne-Marie McDermott and in Kiva Auditorium in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with the pianist Kevin Kenner and the cellist William De Rosa. She has also performed at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory at the invitation of Dr James Watson, the Nobel Prize laureate. Other important concert appearances include the Caramoor Music Festival, the Chopin Foundation of the United States and the Kosciuszko Foundation in New York.
While still a student at Manhattan School of Music Marta Wryk won the first prize at the International Voice Competition in Gorizia, Italy, 3rd prize at the Marcella Sembrich Competition in New York and an encouragement prize from the Career Bridges Competiton in New York. In July 2014 she was named a semi-finalist of the 33rd International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition.
She received scholarship awards from Manhattan School of Music and Leszek and Jolanta Czarnecki’s Foundation. She took part in master classes of Tom Krause, Helena Łazarska, Helen Donath, Diana Soviero, Stephanie Blythe, Elly Ameling, Roger Vignoles and Helmut Deutsch. A degree holder from the F.Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and Manhattan School of Music in New Yorkm she also participated in Young Artists Programs at Virginia Opera, Lyric Opera Virginia, Bel Canto at Caramoor, Chautauqua Institution and The Schubert Institute.
