Il Prof. Dr. Peter P. Pachl è nato nel 1953 a Bayreuth formandosi nella scuola musicale del Regensburger Domspatzen. Ha poi studiato musicologia, teatrologia e linguistica all’Università di Monaco.

Ha lavorato come Regista Teatrale in vari teatri europei e statunitensi (Kassel, Bonn, Monaco, Norimberga, Magonza, Erfurt, Londra, Filadelfia), con opere all’interno e all’esterno del repertorio operistico (Gluck, Mozart, Schubert, ETA Hoffmann, Massenet, Thomas, Lortzing, Nicolai, Cornelio, R. Wagner, S. Wagner, Verdi, Strauss, Pfitzner, Zemlinsky, Thuille, Puccini, Schreker, von Schillings, Urspruch, Strawinsky, Britten, Bernstein, von Einem) e repertorio drammatico (Aristofane, Lope de Vega, Ingrisch, Nestroy, Ramuz, Rosendorfer, Sartre). Nel 1989 è diventato professore universitario di Regia Teatrale a Hannover. Da allora Peter P. Pachl ha insegnato argomenti come la musica da palcoscenico a Weimar, a Bayreuth, a Vienna e a Bochum, così come la gestione culturale a Weimar, Dresda, Amburgo, L’Aia e Berlino.

Dal 1980 è stato Direttore Artistico del München Music Theater Pianopianissimo. Dal 1990 al 1995 è stato direttore artistico e direttore del Thuringia State Theatre e Symphony Orchestra e del Rudolstadt Festival. Tra il 1998-2000 è stato co-direttore artistico e principale drammaturgo al Teatro Hagen.

Peter P. Pachl ha pubblicato numerosi lavori, tra cui la biografia Siegfried Wagner, Genie im Schatten (1988, 1994), e ha creato un gran numero di produzioni e conferenze radiofoniche e televisive negli Stati Uniti, tra cui San Francisco, Boston e Chicago. È editore di diverse colonne sonore complete (Wagner, Pfitzner, Urspruch, Wolff, Zelinsky) e prime mondiali su CD e DVD (E. J. Wolff, S. Wagner Thuille, Urspruch) ed editore di numerosi periodici.

A Berlino è stato direttore del festival per il moderno teatro musicale Berlin Cultural Capital of Europe 1988 e il Festival of Handwork (Zentralverband des Deutschen Handwerks) al Gendarmenmarkt 2000.
Peter P. Pachl ha anche diretto l’esibizione all’aperto di Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg – Festwiese di Wagner, trasmessa da Arte TV.

Dal 2016 è consulente della Berliner Symphoniker.
Peter P. Pachl continua a insegnare come professore alla Beuth University of Applied Sciences di Berlino.

Prof. Dr. Peter P. Pachl was born in 1953 in Bayreuth and received his basic music education in the school of the Regensburger Domspatzen. He then studied musicology, theatrology and linguistics at the University of München.

He has worked as a stage director in various European and US theaters (Kassel, Bonn, München, Nürnberg, Mainz, Erfurt, London, Philadelphia), with works in and out of the operatic repertory (Gluck, Mozart, Schubert, E.T.A. Hoffmann, Massenet, Thomas, Lortzing, Nicolai, Cornelius, R. Wagner, S. Wagner, Verdi, Strauss, Pfitzner, Zemlinsky, Thuille, Puccini, Schreker, von Schillings, Urspruch, Strawinsky, Britten, Bernstein, von Einem) as well as the dramatic repertory (Aristophanes, Lope de Vega, Ingrisch, Nestroy, Ramuz, Rosendorfer, Sartre). Some of his stage directions also on DVD (Marco Polo/Naxos).

In 1989 he became university professor of opera stage direction in Hannover. Peter P. Pachl has since taught topics such as stage music in Weimar, in Bayreuth, in Vienna and in Bochum, as well as cultural management in Weimar, Dresden, Hamburg, the Hague and Berlin.

Since 1980 he has been artistic director of the München Music Theater Pianopianissimo. 1990-95 he was artistic director and manager of the Thuringia State Theater and Symphony Orchestra as well as the Rudolstadt Festival. 1998-2000 he was artistic co-director and principal dramaturgist at the Hagen Theater.

Peter P. Pachl has published numerous works, including the biography Siegfried Wagner, Genie im Schatten (1988, 1994), and has created a large number of radio and TV productions and lectures in the USA, including San Francisco, Boston and Chicago. He is the editor of different full scores (Wagner, Pfitzner, Urspruch, Wolff, Zelinsky) and world premieres on CD and DVD (E. J. Wolff, S. Wagner Thuille, Urspruch) and editor an author of several periodical.

In Berlin he was the festival manager for the modern music theatre Berlin Cultural Capital of Europe 1988 and the Festival of Handwork (Zentralverband des Deutschen Handwerks) at the Gendarmenmarkt 2000.
Peter P. Pachl also directed the open air staged performance of Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg – Festwiese, televised by Arte TV.

Since 2016 he is the consultant of Berliner Symphoniker.
Peter P. Pachl is still teaching as professor at the Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin.
